Well it's A.......

Marvelous night for a moon dance! The aurora lit up the sky until the moon was too high. Hunters are settling into their cozy bedrolls, telling themselves that it is too warm, too bright, but the moose are probably out there celebrating! They are likely out moon dancing! And with good reason! The weather has been unseasonably warm this week, shorts and sleeveless warm. With that comes flooding north of here, shutting off towns and highways. It is typical of spring, this kind of weather, but here we are in the second week of September and reaching mid-20's during the day!
Tonight, with the aurora dancing in the northern sky from west to east, I am hearing a little Jethro Tull and thinking of a January night so long ago. We drove the 40 km highway to our little log cabin in the woods. We had been out late with friends and were coming home in the wee hours. The kids were all asleep in the back seat and we hated to disturb them. It was -30 out and our day had been awesome. As we pulled into our long driveway, we noticed movement down in the field. When we stopped to take a look, we saw moose, standing on their hind legs, much like a dog when it is begging for food. The moon was full and bright, just like tonight, but with the cold, it is harder to find food and those moose were begging the lower tips of a cedar tree, dancing for their dinner. It was a magical moment, one that is still a bit hard to believe that we saw, yet we both did.
Times like tonight, when we are apart, we have had signs in the night sky to remind us of each other. Over the years, it has been the aurora and it has been meteor showers. Falling stars while we drive in separate vehicles great distances with no communication, reminding us that we are still with each other even when we are not together. Sometimes we have had other signs, like a pod of orcas swimming beside a ferry when we were going on a God-seeking adventure. Aurora when we had not yet started dating. Those magical moments remind me that we are not alone in this universe, we are precious to one another and to God, Who provides these works of wonder simply for our wonder and amusement.
What a great God! And I am grateful!
