Weekends are for Connecting

Another weekend come and gone. It was a long weekend, but it was cold! More of the same cold. Not so fun, for sure. But what WAS fun was going to visit our baby-girl in Prince Rupert. In Rupert one expects cold and rain and we were not disappointed! But we got to visit, help our girl move and look at potential cars for her to buy. She has been working for just about a year now in her trade and it is time for her to have a reliable vehicle! We hope she finds one in her price range and style. There are so many sporty and fun ones!

We took lots of pictures while we were away, thinking of our incredible landscape around our region. We have mountains and rivers, an abundance of wildlife and beauty! We stopped for pictures of creeks and waterfalls, mountains and misty skies. The river, though wide, was bordered by steep mountain slopes that pitched straight down in to the water on either side. Waterfalls to numerous to count made their way precariously downward in their attempt to join the flowing river, heading out to the ocean. Where the tide was low, the eel grass swayed in the wind, edging the channels carved out by the receding waterways.

Church this morning had good music and good teaching. Alex knows how to grasp the meaning of the passages he extols for those willing to hear. After communion and wonderful music, we were treated to the Word once again, enough to chew on and meditate on all week long. We made our long way home after a quick lunch with our girl, knowing it will be a month before we see her again.

Once home, time to wash laundry and make dinner, setting the day straight once again as we wait for our favourite grandson to return and tell us of his weekend. Spaghetti dinner and the promise of a visit with far away friends. A young man we taught in youth group has come out from New Brunswick with his girlfriend and we are delighted to spend time with them, getting to know her and to reacquaint ourselves with him after 9 years gone.

I am reminded of all I have to be thankful for- this glorious region, a wonderful drive, a relaxing visit and friends from afar. Taking time with family is always a joy and for this weekend, I am grateful!
