Merry Christmas to all!

Christmas Blessings from the Calhouns
Changes. This year has been full of them! We have a busy household, but on a different level, it is quieter than ever. Times of reflection, of celebration, of retrospection and surrender have all had a part in these changes. Our nest is very nearly empty and our children are adults. We have had some awesome changes here!
Celebration-
Andy finished his Masters in Education, Multi-disciplinary Leadership this year. Having put it on hold while Judi has a fight with cancer, he put his best effort into its completion and did so with flying colours. He would love a principalship somewhere, but while he looks for that, he has trained as a Peer Support worker with the teachers’ union. This seems to be a good fit, something he is a natural in. Judi has celebrated more than a year clear of cancer and is still on the pathway of gratitude for the blessing of Life! She has certified as a Doula this year and also as a Lamaze Childbirth Educator. The hard work has paid off and she has been blessed by invitations to a number of births, a humbling experience. Together, we celebrated all that God has provided with a 3 week trip to Ireland last summer. Refreshing, relaxing, connections with family and with each other, an opportunity to get in touch with roots and to celebrate Judi’s 50th birthday all in one trip!

Family-
Morgan continues to work in the outdoors, whether it is tree planting, creating greenhouses, planning gardens or picking mushrooms. He and his girlfriend, Lacey, have traveled over much of BC this year, following these seasons.
A move to Cumberland is in the immediate future.

Caitlin and Matt have decided it is time to tie the knot! They will marry in October 2012 in Maui, where they will celebrate with a small group of family and friends. The plan is for a reception to follow in BC. They live in Comox BC and have enjoyed settling in.  Caitlin is currently a Watch Clerk with the RCMP in Comox, and Matt is a Constable in nearby Campbell River

Meaghan has also moved home for a bit. She was living and cooking in Prince Rupert, but applied successfully for a position at a classy Smithers hotel, so is looking to move to Smithers in the near future. She does well in her trade and is complimented by bosses and co-workers

Other changes include our foster son of more than 11 years moving to a new home and family. The reasons for this are somewhat complex, but we wanted to let you know he is loved and well cared for and we all still consider him to be an important part of our family.

Jill and Blake live at home with us. She is currently employed as a server in Smithers, but is planning to begin her certification in Early Childhood Education soon. Blake is about to turn 3 and continues to delight us. Jill is an excellent mother and he flourishes under her love and encouragement.

Hazelton is still home for us, but we are considering the future as well, wondering what God has in store for us in this next phase of our lives. We are both refining our career paths, our callings. We both want to stay close to family and to be available as grandparents. At this point, we are also wishing to be more available to our own aging parents. With these options in mind, we are carefully considering what is next for us.
As we reflect on this season and the multitude of blessings in our lives, we want to keep first and foremost the priorities of faith and family. We are humbled as we watch our adult children grow into fine citizens, ones who care about each other deeply. It is with such a sense of satisfaction, wondering how all the years of raising them will come to fruition and harvest.
In this season of celebrating Christ’s birth, may you be blessed with a deep sense of peace, a celebration filled with joy and wonder at the depth of our Heavenly Father’s love for us!
With our love~
Andy and Judi Calhoun
