Sitting on the Dock of the Bay....

Trying something new here, posting from my iPad! Our holiday has done wonders. I feel rested, refreshed, relaxed and renewed! Sunshine, beaches, breezes, paddling and visiting with my lovely family- what more could I ask for?
We spent time with my mother in law on the way, having spent the night at my brother's home. We are so blessed to have family that are happy to see us when we turn up very late at night! The long drive south was hot and sunny and hasn't changed much since we got here. We have done some shopping, some visiting, some eating and some walking here and there. Planning for a few nights out in the kayak, we have looked at charts and maps and bought foods that will work. A fishing trip this morning was fun, with limited success but maximum satisfaction!
Most of all, this time away gives my love and me some time on yet another adventure! We like adventures, enjoy time together and are so excited to see areas yet unexplored by us! My childhood included so much time in a power boat exploring the coast of BC and we are wanting to see many of those places from a different perspective! The kayaks will launch from Cortes Island on Monday, taking us into places with familiar names but only distant memories. We are looking forward to creating memories of our own, stories to share with our grandchildren. We are deeply blessed to live in such a beautiful place, a place for adventures and as we plan, we are so grateful!

Weekend Wanderings

Sunny Saturday. Saturdays, with habits hard to break, are for cleaning, for renewal. We stayed in bed a little late today but awoke to solid daylight showing a new skiff of snow. Sunshine highlights, a machine to clear the snow, helped along by the shovel. Garbage deleted from the house, bathrooms sparkling, kitchen busy with ideas for meals. I love days like this! Sitting here with some Beethoven in quiet contemplation through new speakers, I take the opportunity to meander through the thoughts I have to share today. My family makes me so proud- in a very humbling kind of way! My adult children are living successful lives, each in a satisfying place or moving toward personal satisfaction through schooling or work. I didn't think much about that when we were raising our kids. We thought about values and chose ones that were important to us, to raise our children by. We chose friends who supported those choices. Friday is Turning Out Fantastic!

The wind is subsiding. A lovely day started by a soak in a tub--not here at home, but still, a soak! Then home to make muffins. I made a yummy blueberry and banana muffin that has maple yogurt instead of milk in it- they smell fantastic and taste as good as they smell. For goodness, I added wheat germ and hemp nuts. Really yummy!! Coffee with a lovely friend, passionate discussion, sharing hopes and dreams, this is the stuff of life! I am so grateful to have people like her in my life to keep my challenged and honest with myself.  Right now, to top things off, I have--wait for it--WATER!! Running from my tap as I sit here! For the first time in 10 days! Yes, there are lots of exclamation marks--of course! This is simply wonderful! My lovely daughter is coming home tomorrow for the first time in 8 months.
