A New Day

It has been a long while since I posted. March was a crazy-busy month, loaded!! I taught more classes in that one month than in the last six. But it brought about so many opportunities, so much joy. I have been encouraged to become a doula trainer. I have had a very informative conversation with a gifted author about shared passion. And I have continued to research and read toward what may eventually become a book.
In the middle of that month, we took a trip to Vancouver Island. With two of our adult children there, the draw is great. We drove down from the north end, having taken the ferry from Prince Rupert.
 The trip down was beautiful

And relaxing! We read, snoozed, watched scenery and planned what our time away would look like

We thought about time with our daughter, the bride-to-be and her hunny. We planned some time with our son, the tree planter and hugger and his lady. We wanted to spend time in Victoria, in the Long Beach area and time with friends along the way.

Though we had two weeks away, the time slipped by! We took our trip to Long Beach and encountered snow in the pass and winter storms on the beach.

We visited friends from home here in Hazelton. Roy Henry Vickers has a lovely gallery in Tofino and we had the pleasure of seeing him there and, after a wonderful dinner, visiting with the family and enjoying some fresh caught crab and Dylan on the guitar.

It was nice to be back on the west coast after 27 years. The last time we were there, our son learned to crawl while we camped under giant Douglas Firs. Now he is planting trees that will someday be giants!

We continued our travels, heading back to the Comox Valley to spend some more time with our kids. Part of our time so far had been gifted to us in the way of a home to stay in while friends were on vacation. The home is in Ladysmith, centrally located for us to visit points west and south. After a few more days in the home of our gracious daughter, we headed off to Mayne Island to stay with wonderful hosts and friends while we waited for my oncology check up.

They fed us, let us enjoy their company, their farm and pets and most of all, gave us a chance to simply be. Exploring some very interesting beaches and points, scrambling on rocks and watching seals play was a bonus. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed and loved. The trip back into Victoria for a follow up for me was certainly anti-climactic. My clean bill of health is still in place and once again I am grateful for this journey. The insights we have been granted, the understanding we have been led to and the wonder of our awesome God and His character continues to bless us in every single day.
We spent one more night with our island dwelling family, then sped on northward. I have to say, my dear husband is one terrific photographer--he has taken all of these for this posting. He is prolific, that is for sure. In the two weeks away, he took about 600 to choose from. Here are a few from the trip north on the ferry.

We arrived home on Thursday, satisfied with a trip well spent. We shopped too much, ate too much, drove too much and saw so many sights. We are so very grateful to those who hosted us, those who fed us and took care of us--and will continue to think about this trip warmly for years to come.
My posts should be coming more regularly in this next bit. My heart is full of gratitude and joy for all I have been granted in this second act of my life. I want to take every opportunity to share it! And I am so thankful.
